Come landscape/plant/help create our beautiful community garden at the gap site garden on 91-111 West Princes Street. The clear up stage is pretty much finished and we will be planning some fun productive activities for the site so please come along it is good fun and bring a friend or two or, if you don't have any, come down and make some friends!!

Directors' Meeting and AGM

After reflection the directors have come to the view that the AGM of WCDT will be held in Lansdowne Church at 6.00 p.m. on Wednesday June 23rd.

We considered bringing it forward to the May meeting but on balance it was decided to invite Trust members and volunteers to attend the May 26th Directors' meeting and encourage them to consider becoming directors at the AGM.

It may be seen as an induction meeting regarding directorship and the aims and aspirations of the Trust.

The next meeting of the Directors of WCDT will be on Wednesday April 28th at 6pm in Lansdowne Church.

This is an important meeting as we need to keep up the momentum that has been building recently. Amongst other things the date of the AGM, communication with new members, recruitment of new directors/office-bearers and ongoing plans for Site 6 and beyond will be discussed.

Work continues on Saturday 24th April with more clearing out.

This will be followed by a meeting at4pm in Lansdowne Church, 416 Great Western Road when participants can bring and share ideas for the future of the site, the Trust and related matters.

There will be a meeting of a Community Garden Project task group, on Wed 25th November at 2pm in Lansdowne Parish Church.

We are in correspondence with Development and Regeneration Services and the Hillhead Area Committee about this and other plans to develop the West Princes Street gap-site.

Thanks to one and all who attended the AGM at The Albany Centre last Saturday, June 27th.

The 'Mem and Arts' were accepted...

The Directors retired and were reappointed for the coming year.

We had a number of people attending for the first time and expressing interest. This is most welcome and we look forward to having some new blood...

Lights on at St George's Cross

Festive lights will be switched on at the statue of St George, St George's Cross on Tuesday 25th November at 4.40 p.m.

This has been organised by Woodside Community Council. Local councillors and schools will be present.

Woodlands Walkabout - November 30th 2008

A WCDT social gathering for members, friends and interested parties.

Sunday November 30th at the Arlington Baths at 2.30 p.m.

We will then have a brisk and informative walk around the Woodlands Area before returning to the Baths for 4.30 p.m.

The event will conclude at 5.30 p.m.

Joe Evaskitas

It is with much regret that we pass on the sad news of the recent death of Joe Evaskitas.

Joe worked in the housing sector for many years. He was a prime mover in Woodlands Community Development Trust and was a committed and active resident in this area.

Many local people and ex-colleagues will be saddened to hear of his untimely passing and will have much to share as Joe's contribution to community life in Glasgow and Woodlands is remembered.

The funeral will take place at Noon on Saturday, October 11th in Glasgow Crematorium. (Lambhill)

Our thoughts go out to all of his family.

Thanks everyone who helped make the AGM and Woodlands Awakens happen. Especially the staff at the Albany Centre and the singers and musicians of Voicebeat choir and Acoustic Butterfly for their contributions.

The threat of rain made us decide to move indoors from the Queen's Crescent Gardens - so apologies to anyone who came along to the Gardens and missed us.

Woodlands Community Development Trust has been in existence since the 1980s.
